The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has said stiffer penalties would be meted out to tertiary institutions and admission racketeers who bypass admission processes and the Central Admissions Processing System of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. TETFUND DISBURSES N929.7BN TO SELECTED UNIVERSITIES, POLYTECHNICS AND COLLEGES

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund has approved the sum of N292.7 billion for disbursement to select public universities, polytechnics and colleges of education across the country.Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Prof Suleiman Bogoro, who made this known on Tuesday in Abuja, said the intervention which has been okayed by the Federal Government, would be spread to higher education institutions in each of the six geo-political zones in the country.According to the 2021 disbursement plans, TETFund is to give N906 million to one university each from the six geo-political zones while N628 million will go to one polytechnic

Lately,the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) is threatening to resume its suspended strike over non-payment of salaries and alleged victimisation and inhumane treatment of some of its members. Prof. Ayo Akinwole, Chairman, University of Ibadan branch of ASUU, in a statement on Sunday asked Nigerians to blame the Federal Government if universities are shut down again.
