UNIABUJA expels 46 of her students for various acts of Misconduct

No fewer than 46 students of the University of Abuja have been expelled by its Senate over their alleged involvement in various acts of misconduct.A statement, Sunday,by Dr Habib Yakoob,Head, Information and University Relations,said the actions of the students were “in breach of their sworn matriculation oath.” Five other students,the statement said, “were rusticated for one semester, the cases of three others involved in sundry offences would be retried, while seven accused persons were exonerated, discharged and acquitted.”Senate at its 175th Regular Meeting held on Thursday 27th May 2021, considered the report and recommendations of the Students Disciplinary Committee, and

A recent graduate of the University of Abuja, Otunla Blessing, has been found dead on the university premises The deceased who is suspected to have been raped before being killed was found naked in a gutter at Student village in Iddo Sarki, Abuja on Saturday May 22, 2021.  It was gathered that the graduate of English language had travelled from Oyo state to Abuja to collect her result before her untimely death.

The University of Abuja library located at the University’s permanent site along Abuja airport road was gutted by fire on Friday, May 21, 2021. Though the cause of the inferno is yet to be revealed, the fire reportedly destroyed lots of documents, books, and files. An eyewitness who was present at the scene of the incident claimed students tried to put out the fire after all efforts to get the fire service department proved abortive. After several failed attempts, the fire service department eventually arrived at the scene and put out the fire. No life was lost to the fire. Watch video

JAMB accuses UNIABUJA Admissions to be Illegal & void

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has accused the management of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA), and some unamed institutions of illegally admitting students in the ongoing 2020/2021 admission processes. JAMB, which made the allegation in a statement issued on Tuesday evening and signed by its head of Public Affairs and Protocol unit, Fabian Benjamin, declared the admissions conducted by the institutions so far during the affected calendar year as null and void. UNIABUJA moves to Dissolve Student Union Government (SUG)

The Management of University of Abuja has directed the dissolution of the Students Union Government ( Executive Committee, Students Representative Assembly and Judicial Committee), for having overstayed its tenure in office. The Government was elected in September 2019. Following the dissolution, a Caretaker Committee is to be constituted to run the affairs of the Union. The Committee is expected to comprise representatives of all Faculties, drawn from "all regions of the country among our students" for the consideration of the Vice-Chancellor, according to a memo signed by the Registrar, Malam Yahya I.
