Education Students Association of Nigeria National Welfare Unit condemn in the strongest terms, the cruel, gruesome and unlawful killing of Miss Deborah Yakubu, a student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto State burnt alive on Thursday, 13th of May, 2022 over alleged blasphemy.

For all we know about Democracy, there is no place in a modern democracy such as Nigeria for jungle justice and killing of human beings illegally without a lawful trial. Miss Deborah Yakubu deserve to have been put through the full process of the law which has adequate punishment for all offences including the one she was accused of. We cannot afford now to add religious intolerance to the plethora of problems bedevilling our country. The Religious leaders of all religion should teach their members to allow their so called gods to fight for themselves on any issue seen as blaspheme or unethical for any religion not human being fighting for gods in the name of religious loyalty. This is uncalculated adventures as gods are seen to be powerful then human being…. Why then do we human fight for gods? All Religion leaders should ponder over the above question.

The Education Students Association of Nigeria, therefore urge Mr. President, the Legislative Arm, NUT, and all Authorities in Nigeria to ensure the Security Agencies carry out thorough investigation into this ugly incident with a view to bringing those responsible for the unlawful murder of a promising Nigerian to justice as soon as possible.

ESAN condole with the immediate family, friends of late Miss Deborah Yakubu over this painful death and irreplaceable loss. May God Almighty, in His infinite mercy, grants the soul of Miss Yakubu a peaceful repose and to those she left behind, the strength and courage to bear the loss.

Education Students Association of Nigeria love you miss Deborah Yakubu.

ESAN National seek justice for miss Deborah Yakubu.✊
