A handful of Boko Haram terrorists surrenders to the Nigerian army

Once again, Boko Haram terrorists totalling over 100 have absconded their old ways and submitted to the Nigerian Army in Borno with their families.

According to the Daily Trust, terrorists surrendered to troops in Gwoza town, Borno’s Gwoza local government area. Reports also suggest that one of the sect’s commanders led a total of 120 people to the military, most of whom were youngsters.

According to a high security source, some leaders and their families surrendered to the 26 task force brigade in Gwoza.

“I think what we are seeing now is as a result of the death of Abubakar Shekau; his death has affected the group. A total of 120 Boko Haram members and their families surrendered in Gwoza town today,” the source said

According to another source, the ex-fighters simply brought their clothes and bicycles. The fact that they did not drop any firearms, according to the source, caused people to be suspicious.

“The people are contemplating if the Boko Haram fighters are truly interested in peace.”the source said

In other news, the family of Usifo Ataga, the late Super TV Chief Executive Officer, has requested the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali, to have another investigation into the details surrounding their son’s death.

Mike Ozekhome, counsel to late Ataga’s family, told Punch that the police investigation into his death had not been handled professionally so far, adding that the police, without seeking legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, arraigned the prime suspect, Chidinma Ojukwu, and other suspected accomplices at a chief magistrate’s court with no jurisdiction.

Ataga’s family claimed that one of the charged suspected accomplices, Babalola Disu, carried out the murder, according to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria. READ HERE
